KOWA is a specialist for binoculars, spotting scopes and digiscoping from Japan. The company is held in high regard among ornithologists and amateur bird watchers.
Since its founding in 1894, KOWA has grown into a multinational Japanese company that is actively engaged in various manufacturing and trading activities in the field of optics, pharmaceuticals, information technology and various consumer goods.
In 1952, KOWA’s Department of Electronics and Optics began producing spotting scopes. Interestingly, they were originally meant for easier target assessments at various shooting competitions. They were officially used by athletes who took part in the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo. When these spotting scopes were discovered by bird watchers, the good name of KOWA products spread across the world and the brand became immensely popular practically overnight.
It comes as a bit of a surprise that KOWA has never entered the production of binoculars in the high-end portion of the market. However, the Prominar series is considered a gold standard among serious users. These models use a pure fluorite crystal to achieve optical properties that cannot not be achieved with ordinary glass lenses.
The company believes in building on happy and loyal customers, which is why they are not interested in cheap marketing tricks. Instead, KOWA continues to invest in development of optical technologies and further education of its employees. Over 125 years of experience and steady technological advancement has brought the KOWA brand to the very top of the industry.
Optics Trade has been working with KOWA since 2013 and we are proud to be the authorized distributor for Slovenia.
