Zeiss is a German company with an incredibly rich tradition – it was established in 1846. In the beginning, Carl Zeiss, the founder of the company, manufactured microscopes. He started cooperating with physicist Ernst Karl Abbe who improved Zeiss’ optical instruments and Friedrich Otto Schott who was an expert in handling of glass. The company grew and its offer of products expanded. At the end of the 19th century, Zeiss devised their first prototype of binoculars. Vast knowledge in this field allowed them to quickly progress and become incredibly competitive on the market. In 1928, Zeiss bought Hensoldt AG, further cementing their position in the market of optics – Moritz Carl Hensoldt, the founder of the company Zeiss bought, was a famous man in the optics industry as he constructed the first roof prism binoculars back in 1897. Today, Zeiss’ offer comprises binoculars, riflescopes, red dot sights, monoculars, and spotting scopes. Zeiss moved production of some of their devices to Japan and China, but most of their products are still made in Germany. We have been cooperating with Zeiss since 2012.
